SaneBox Pricing 2026: Plans, Price Rises and an Alternative

• Lunch is $15.99 a month, $109 a year or $179 for two years. It covers 2 accounts and 6 features, and it is the plan SaneBox's pricing page preselects.
• Dinner is $42.99 a month, $319 a year or $529 for two years. It covers 4 accounts, every feature, and SaneBox's new AI: Reply Draft and SaneSummary.
• There is no free plan. The free trial is 7 days, down from 14 until July 2026, and a refund within 30 days has to be requested from support.
• SaneBox's pricing page opens on two-year billing, so Lunch shows as $7.46 a month, which is $179 paid upfront. Month to month, the same plans cost 19% to 36% more than in September 2025.

How much does SaneBox cost?

SaneBox costs $9.49 a month for Snack, $15.99 for Lunch and $42.99 for Dinner on monthly billing in the US. Billed annually, the same plans are $65, $109 and $319 a year. Billed every two years, they are $109, $179 and $529. Snack covers 1 email account, Lunch 2 and Dinner 4. SaneBox for Business has no published price.

Is SaneBox free?

No. SaneBox has no free plan. It offers a 7-day free trial, which was 14 days until July 2026, and then the cheapest plan is Snack at $9.49 a month or $65 a year. If you pay and change your mind, SaneBox offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but cancelling doesn't trigger it: you have to ask support for the refund.

Does SaneBox write email replies?

Yes, on the Dinner plan. Its Reply Draft feature, also called SaneDrafts, writes replies in your tone and saves them to your normal Drafts folder, usually 10 to 15 minutes after a qualifying email arrives. Nothing is sent automatically. SaneBox's pricing data has listed it as part of Dinner since October 2026. Snack and Lunch don't include it, so drafting with SaneBox costs $42.99 a month or $319 a year.

Is SaneBox worth it?

SaneBox is worth it if you want an inbox sorted without changing email clients, especially on iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail or another IMAP provider that most AI email tools don't support. Snack at $65 a year is one of the cheapest ways to do that. It is a harder sell for drafting: Dinner costs $319 a year, and AI tools built for Gmail and Outlook draft replies for less.

SaneBox pricing and plans in October 2026

SaneBox is a paid email filter that moves less important mail out of your inbox into folders such as SaneLater. It works with Gmail, Outlook, Exchange, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail and other IMAP accounts, and it sells three plans: Snack, Lunch and Dinner.

Most of the numbers on those plans changed in the last year. Monthly prices went up three times between September 2025 and June 2026 and came down slightly in July, when the free trial also went from 14 days to 7. In October, Dinner started including AI reply drafts.

Prices and plan contents are from the plan data in the 17 October 2026 capture of SaneBox's pricing page. They are US prices. SaneBox prices by region: when we loaded the same page from India on 17 October 2026, the same three plans showed $3.49, $5.99 and $16.99 a month.

Most buyers decide on the AI row. If you want SaneBox only to sort mail, Snack or Lunch on annual billing is cheap. Neither of them drafts replies or summarizes email, so for that the price is $319 a year or $42.99 a month.

What each SaneBox plan includes

Snack: $9.49 a month, or $65 a year

• One email account, on Gmail, Outlook, Exchange, iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail or another IMAP provider.
• Two SaneBox features of your choice. By default, the plan data pairs SaneLater, the folder where unimportant mail goes, with SaneBlackHole, which sends a sender's future mail straight to the trash.
• The daily digest of what SaneBox filtered.

Snack fits one person with one inbox who wants the noise moved out of the way and nothing else.

Lunch: $15.99 a month, or $109 a year

• Two email accounts.
• Six features. The plan data's default set is SaneLater, SaneBlackHole, SaneNews for newsletters, SaneNoReplies for sent mail nobody has answered, SaneNotSpam for real mail caught in spam, and DIY folders with your own rules.

Lunch suits someone with a work and a personal inbox who wants newsletters filtered and a list of unanswered email as well.

Dinner: $42.99 a month, or $319 a year

• Four email accounts.
• Every SaneBox feature, including snooze folders, SaneCC, SaneReminders and attachment handling.
• Reply Draft, also called SaneDrafts, which writes replies in your tone and style and saves them to your Drafts folder (SaneBox Help Center, 2026).
• SaneSummary, which sends you summaries of the email in your Inbox or chosen folders, and can add them to the daily digest.

Dinner costs about four and a half times Snack's monthly price. It makes sense for people with three or four inboxes, and it is the only way to get SaneBox's drafts.

SaneBox for Business: no published price

• Admin controls, company-wide rules, and Active Directory, Office 365 and Salesforce integrations.
• Sales-led. You fill in a form with your team size, and an account executive contacts you when the trial ends (SaneBox, 2026).

Business is for companies that want SaneBox managed centrally. Without a quote, its price can't be compared.

How Reply Draft works

SaneBox's help article on Reply Draft describes how it works (SaneBox Help Center, 2026):

• Drafts appear in the Drafts folder of whatever email app you already use, so it works in Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail.
• Nothing is sent automatically. You review, edit and send.
• You can't choose which emails get a draft. SaneBox drafts replies for emails "where a response appears appropriate" and skips receipts, newsletters, notifications, mail you were only CC'd on, and mail you have already answered.
• Drafts usually arrive 10 to 15 minutes after a qualifying email.
• SaneBox says editing drafts before you send them helps the feature adapt to your tone.
• SaneBox doesn't publish a monthly limit on drafts.

Reply Draft also changes what SaneBox reads. SaneBox has always sorted mail on headers: the sender, the subject, and how you have treated similar mail before. Writing a reply means reading the email itself. SaneBox's security page covers this: sorting analyzes only headers, and "when optional features retrieve the body of email they are never stored" (SaneBox, 2026). Its Terms of Service, last modified on 6 January 2021, still say "we don't look at the body of your emails" (SaneBox, 2026). The terms predate the AI features. If body access matters to you, the plans without AI keep the old header-only model.

How SaneBox's prices changed, 2024 to 2026

Each date is the first Internet Archive capture that shows the change, so the change itself happened some time between that capture and the one before it. Each price change came with new plan codes in SaneBox's data, dated August 2025, December 2025, May 2026 and July 2026.

Since September 2025, monthly billing has gone up 36% on Snack, 33% on Lunch and 19% on Dinner. Annual billing went up less: 10% on Snack and Lunch, and 7% on Dinner. SaneBox's own plan data puts the annual saving at 43% for Snack and Lunch and 38% for Dinner, measured against twelve months of the monthly price, so most of the increase falls on people who pay month to month.

What SaneBox costs at 5, 10 and 25 people

SaneBox prices by email account, not by seat. Here it is multiplied out with one subscription per person, which is how you would buy it without a Business quote. NeatMail has no team plan either, so its columns are also one subscription per person.

Paying monthly

Paying annually, per year

A 25-person team that wants SaneBox's drafts pays $7,975 a year on Dinner, or $12,897 a year on monthly billing. On two-year billing it is $13,225 upfront.

The columns don't buy the same things. Snack and Lunch sort mail and write nothing, so they compare with no NeatMail plan. Against them, SaneBox is the cheaper choice: 25 Snack subscriptions cost $625 a year less than 25 of NeatMail Pro. The fair pairing for drafts is Dinner against NeatMail Max, because both draft without a published cap. At 25 people on annual billing, Max costs $3,225 a year less. NeatMail Pro is cheaper still, but it caps drafts at 100 a month.

Hidden costs to know about

• The first price you see is a two-year prepayment. SaneBox's pricing page opens on two-year billing, so Lunch appears as "$7.46 / mo (billed every 2 years)". That is $179 paid upfront. The monthly price of the same plan is $15.99.
• The AI is Dinner-only. Reply Draft and SaneSummary are included only on Dinner, at $42.99 a month or $319 a year, about four and a half times Snack's monthly price. There is no AI add-on for Snack or Lunch.
• Snack and Lunch ration features. Snack lets you turn on 2 SaneBox features and Lunch 6. Only Dinner includes every feature.
• Monthly billing has risen fastest. Snack is up 36% and Lunch 33% on monthly billing since September 2025, against 10% on annual billing.
• Teams can't see a price. Plans cover 1, 2 or 4 email accounts for one person. Anything larger goes through the SaneBox for Business sales form, with no published rate.
• Cancelling doesn't refund you. SaneBox's help center says cancelling and requesting a refund are "two separate actions", and the 30-day money-back guarantee needs a support request (SaneBox Help Center, 2026). Any store credit on the account is cleared when you cancel (SaneBox Terms of Service, 2021).

Is SaneBox worth it?

SaneBox has been sorting inboxes since 2010 (Wikipedia, 2026), and it still does something most AI email tools don't: it works with almost any provider. If your mail is on iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail or a company IMAP server, SaneBox sorts it without asking you to switch clients, and it sorts on headers alone. At $65 a year, Snack costs less than any AI email assistant in the table above.

Drafting is where SaneBox gets expensive. Reply Draft is new and Dinner-only, and you can't choose which emails it drafts for. Its follow-ups work on timing. SaneNoReplies collects the mail you sent that nobody answered, and SaneReminders brings an email back at a time you set. Neither tracks what was promised inside a thread.

Is NeatMail a good SaneBox alternative?

NeatMail fits if you use Gmail or Outlook and want an inbox that is sorted and has replies drafted for you, for less than Dinner. It connects over OAuth, labels mail as it arrives and drafts replies in your tone inside the inbox you already use. It sends nothing without your approval.

The differences, in both directions:

• Price. For sorting alone, SaneBox wins: Snack is $65 a year against $90 for NeatMail Pro. For drafting, NeatMail is $9 or $19 a month ($90 or $190 a year) against $42.99 a month or $319 a year for Dinner.
• Mailboxes. Dinner covers 4 email accounts. NeatMail Max covers 2, and extra mailboxes are $10 a month each, so 4 mailboxes come to $430 a year on Max ($190 plus two add-ons) against $319 for Dinner. If you have four inboxes, Dinner is cheaper.
• Providers. SaneBox works with almost any IMAP provider. NeatMail works with Gmail and Outlook only.
• How it reads mail. SaneBox sorts on headers and reads the body only for its AI features. NeatMail reads each email to label it by intent and draft a reply. Both say they don't store email bodies.
• Follow-ups. SaneBox's are timer-based. NeatMail tracks commitments both ways, what you promised and what you were promised, files them under a Follow up label, and has a draft ready when one is due. Our free email promise extractor runs the same kind of scan on any thread you paste.
• Source code. NeatMail is source-available under the Elastic License 2.0 and free to self-host. SaneBox is closed source.

• Refunds. SaneBox refunds within 30 days on request. NeatMail refunds your first payment within 14 days.
• Track record. SaneBox has been running for over 15 years. NeatMail is a young product.

• SaneBox Dinner: people with three or four inboxes, especially on iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail or another IMAP provider, who also want drafts.

Is NeatMail cheaper than SaneBox?

For drafted replies, NeatMail is cheaper: Pro is $90 a year and Max $190, against $319 for SaneBox Dinner.
